SWAP embarks on a dynamic exploration, blending movement, voice, and sound, inspired by the ancient theory of the four humours. Rooted in Greek and Roman medical traditions, these humours symbolize the balance of bodily fluids and the distinct temperaments they embody. By investigating the interplay of these elements within this thematic framework—where voice and sound may be seen as extensions of movement or vice versa— Swap seeks to unravel the layers of human expression. Through the fusion of voice and movement, it delves into the intricate complexities of identity.
For the music of SWAP, I designed and built a new setup that would allow me to generate a wide range not only of sounds but also of performance styles relating to the realities and alternative worlds of the piece. The setup is essentially acoustic, amplified through the use of custom-built contact microphones. Sound processing alternates between analogue processors and plugins in Live, which is used primarily as a mixer.
About us
Maria Colusi and Edgardo Rudnitzky have been collaborating for more than 20 years, researching and developing performance and installation projects that explore the interplay between the unique narratives of sound and the moving body. In this ongoing and dynamic exchange, both artists dissolve and transform the tools of their respective disciplines, forging a distinctive and singular expression.
Reviews
¨A work of powerful, ancient and authentic magic, in which body, movement and sounds blend and, above all, activate each other, creating an intense dynamic that captivates the audience and draws them into actively participating in what they see and perceive, between emotion and the desire to understand¨

‘Coreoacustic Transformation.’ The physicality of sound and music – their material but invisible presence in space – becomes clear when it becomes a physical experience: something that vibrates, presses, expands, retreats… A state of mutual attention arises in which the sensual and the imaginary enrich each other”
